A shopfront sign is the most commercially important sign a business owns, so legibility, brightness and maintenance access all matter. We produce channel letters, light boxes and combined fascia systems.
Commissioned work in illuminated shopfront letters normally runs from 6 to 30 m², with 6–12 working days in production from approved drawings. The reference range for this technique is CNY 200–1200 per m², quoted itemised. It sits within our Signage & Wayfinding capability, alongside 9 related techniques, and the 4-point deliverable below is what a commission includes as standard.
When illuminated shopfront letters is the right answer - and when it is not
Illuminated shopfront signage is chosen to keep a business visible after dark, which for many premises is when most of its passing trade happens. It suits retail, food and beverage, hospitality and service premises on streets with evening footfall. It is the wrong choice where the premises have no night visibility requirement, since illumination adds cost, power and maintenance for no return.
How the work is actually carried out
The sign is designed against the facade and the sightline from the street, with letter heights set from the distance at which it must register rather than from taste. Illumination is chosen by effect and by power draw - front-lit for clarity, halo-lit for a softer architectural read, edge-lit for slim profiles - and the power supply, switching and access are resolved with the sign. Materials are specified for the local weather and for the cleaning the street frontage will actually receive, and the fixings are designed so they do not stain the facade as they age.

Faults we see most often in illuminated shopfront letters
Each of these is a field failure rather than a workshop one, and each is cheaper to prevent at enquiry stage than to correct after installation.
- Sizing the letters from a screen, producing a sign that is legible at two metres and invisible at twenty.
- Leaving the power supply and its access to the electrician, so a failed driver means removing the sign.
- Fixing through a render or cladding without considering how the fixings will weather, and staining the facade within a couple of years.
What to settle before an overseas project starts
| Street sightline | Send photographs from the direction and distance customers approach. That view sets the letter height and the illumination needed. |
|---|---|
| Facade and fixings | Tell us the facade material and condition. Fixings and preparation follow from it, and so does the staining risk. |
| Power and consent | Confirm the available supply and any landlord or local rules on illumination. Signage consent often constrains illumination most. |
