Village projects succeed when local people benefit from them. We work on the public realm, the village identity and the visitor facilities that turn a pleasant place into one people will travel to and spend in.
Commissioned work in rural revitalisation project normally runs from 6 to 30 m², with 3–8 working days in production from approved drawings. The reference range for this technique is CNY 300+ per m², quoted itemised. It sits within our Cultural Tourism & Scenic Fit-out capability, alongside 11 related techniques, and the 4-point deliverable below is what a commission includes as standard.
When rural revitalisation project is the right answer - and when it is not
Rural regeneration schemes are chosen where a village needs an identity, a story and a reason for visitors, built from what is genuinely local rather than from a template applied to dozens of villages. They work where there is real local commitment and a product behind the story. They fail where the intervention is decorative and there is nothing for a visitor to actually do or buy, because goodwill does not survive an empty car park.
How the work is actually carried out
The work starts from what exists - the landscape, the produce, the crafts, the buildings, the people willing to be involved - rather than from a design concept. Interventions are designed as a set of linked improvements: wayfinding, a focal public space, frontage work and interpretive content, so the visitor experience is coherent rather than one decorated wall. Local labour and materials are used wherever they meet the standard, and the output is documented so the village can extend it without external help.

Faults we see most often in rural revitalisation project
Each of these is a field failure rather than a workshop one, and each is cheaper to prevent at enquiry stage than to correct after installation.
- Applying a design language that would suit any village, so the result is interchangeable with a hundred others.
- Building the visual identity without the visitor offer, producing a place that photographs well and gives nobody a reason to stay.
- Designing everything centrally so the community cannot extend it once the project team leaves.
What to settle before an overseas project starts
| Genuine local assets | Tell us what the village actually has - produce, craft, landscape, story. The scheme should be built from those, not around them. |
|---|---|
| Community commitment | Who in the village is leading this and who is involved. Without local ownership, rural schemes do not sustain. |
| Extension plan | Tell us how the village will continue the work. Documentation and training are part of the deliverable, not an extra. |
